How Meal Plans Work
Once a student signs up for a meal plan, it is automatically loaded onto their RU ID card. They simply tap their ID to enter dining facilities or when paying at retail operations. A meal swipe covers an entree, side, and beverage, ensuring a balanced meal.
Special Dietary Needs
We cater to students with dietary restrictions or special diets. Students can indicate their dietary needs on housing applications or contact our Dining Nutritionists directly. Our nutritionists will meet with students virtually or in person to ensure they have access to safe meals that meet their preferences. Dietary accommodations include but are not limited to food allergies, intolerances, celiac disease, medical conditions, dietary preferences, and religious/cultural diets.
RU Express
RU Express is the university’s debit card system, allowing students to load money onto their ID cards for use at over 100 locations on and off campus, including cafes, restaurants, vending machines, grocery markets, bookstores, and laundry rooms. This money is tax-free and rolls over each semester.
Student Employment
Rutgers Dining Services offers flexible, on-campus student jobs with no minimum hours, opportunities for growth and promotion, and a free meal during shifts of four hours or longer. Visit http://food.rutgers.edu/jobs for more information.
