Figure skater Amanda Hsu (SAS ’27), a first-year student at Rutgers, competes around the world against international talent. Between her classes on the New Brunswick campus and practices at the Montclair State University Ice Arena, she sat down to discuss her pride in representing her parents’ native country of Taiwan and the support she receives at Rutgers in juggling skating and academics.
Hsu began skating at eight years old and, after an accident on the ice set her back at the age of 10, she has gone on to compete across the globe, most recently at the Four Continents Championships in Beijing earlier this year. “My professors have been very supportive in the process of my skating journey,” she said. “I feel like I’m not alone at Rutgers.”
