Rutgers Suspends COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

Members of the Rutgers Community,

As you are aware, since March 2020 we have relied on science, including guidance from our own experts and from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on how to best manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Your cooperation has been unfailing and led to a successful effort in keeping our community safe.

As we continue to unwind policies put in place during this time period, I write to inform you that, effective immediately, we will be suspending the following university policy:

  • Student Health Services 10.3.14 COVID-19 Immunization Record Requirement for StudentsSummary: Current and prospective students will no longer be required to be immunized against the COVID-19 virus or seek a health or religious exemption. Note that ALL other vaccine requirements remain in effect.

Covered Individuals (CI’s) – clinical students, faculty, and staff – will no longer be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or require a valid medical or religious exemption. Students in some programs may have continued requirements for clinical placements outside of Rutgers.

In closing, I want to thank you for your dedication and cooperation during this difficult period and wish you much success and good health.

    Antonio M. Calcado
Executive Vice President Chief Operating Officer
