With Thanksgiving break fast approaching, here’s all the essential information you and your student need about dining, residence hall, and transportation services on campus.
Academic Schedule Reminder
Rutgers will have Changes in Designation of Class Days during the week of Thanksgiving. In other words, the week’s schedule will be adjusted as follows:
- Tuesday, November 25, 2025 – Follow a Thursday class schedule
- Wednesday, November 26, 2025 – Follow a Friday class schedule
Please note: No classes will be held from Thursday, November 27 through Sunday, November 30, 2025, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Dining Hall Hours
Last Meal Served Before Break: Please refer to the Rutgers Dining Services Schedule for the most up-to-date information on when the last meal will be served leading up to Thanksgiving break.
Dining Hall Reopening: Dining halls will reopen on Sunday, November 30, at 4:00 PM and resume normal hours starting Monday, December 1. Students staying on campus during the break can use RU Express Participating Locations for alternative dining options.. Residence Hall Schedule
Thanksgiving Recess: From Thursday, November 27 to Sunday, November 30, 2025, all residence halls will remain open, so students have the option to stay on campus if they wish.
For future opening and closing dates, please refer to the Residence Halls Opening and Closing Schedule. If your student needs special accommodations or has specific questions, contact Residence Life at residencelife@rutgers.edu or call 848-445-0750.
Campus Transportation
During recess, certain bus routes may operate on an adjusted schedule. Students staying on campus can check the latest bus schedule using the Rutgers Mobile App or PassioGo for real-time route updates.
Additional Tips
- Encourage Regular Email Checks: Remind your student to keep an eye on their Rutgers email for any last-minute updates from Dining Services, Residence Life, or other campus departments.
- Travel Planning: If your student is heading home or visiting friends, urge them to arrange transportation early to avoid any last-minute rush.
- Campus Services: Other services, including recreation centers, student centers, and health centers, may also have modified hours. Students can check the respective websites or the Rutgers Mobile App for the most current information.
